Why This Recipe Works

Dates provide natural sweetness while helping bind the ingredients together. Almonds add crunch and healthy fats, shredded coconut creates texture, cocoa powder brings rich chocolate flavour, and vanilla enhances the sweetness without the need for refined sugar.

Storage

Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.

These squares also freeze well for up to 3 months.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use another type of nut?

Yes. Walnuts, pecans or cashews all work well.

Can I make these nut-free?

You can substitute the almonds with sunflower seeds or pumpkin seeds if required.

Do I need a food processor?

A food processor works best because it creates the sticky texture needed to hold the mixture together.

Can I freeze them?

Absolutely. Freeze individually and thaw for a few minutes before enjoying.
